Android Q Beta 5 hasn't been released by Google quite yet, but today we're learning about one new feature that'll be included when it does arrive.
The fifth beta of Android Q includes a new Google Assistant animation and a gesture hint for activating it. Reddit user Charizarlslie (via 9to5Google) is testing Android Q Beta 5 as part of a carrier test program and found that when they summon the Assistant, Google's four signature colors move from the bottom corners of the screen and come together as the Assistant window pops up.
We can also see two curved lines in the bottom left and bottom right corners of the screen. These are here to indicate the gesture that'll let you swipe from the bottom corners to activate the Google Assistant when Fully Gestural Navigation is activated.
These two changes should help make using the Google Assistant in Android Q much better. The corner indicators help you to know that you can activate the Assistant with a swipe from the corner, because that's a gesture that a lot of folks probably wouldn't know about otherwise. And the new animation with Google's colors just looks slick.
Other improvements discovered within Android Q Beta 5 is a "Back Sensitivity" setting. With it, you can adjust the sensitivity of the back gesture, which lets you go back by swiping from the left or right edge. Google warns that a higher sensitivity could conflict with app gestures along the edges of the screen.
Android Q Beta 5 also includes a rotation button that's been moved slightly so that it doesn't cover the navigation bar.
Google hasn't said when it'll release Android Q Beta 5. It's now been one month since the last beta release, though, so Beta 5 could arrive any day now.
