Texas Hold'em was one of the first popular games on the App Store, and today Apple updated it to celebrate an App Store milestone.
An updated version of Texas Hold'em is now available (via 9to5Mac) to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the App Store, which actually happened last year. This is the first update that the game has received since August 31st, 2008.
Apple touts that the updated Texas Hold'em game includes a "polished redesign" with new characters and more challenging gameplay. Also packed in the update are "stunning graphics" for the latest iPhone and iPod touch models.
This version of Texas Hold'em lets you play against 24 opponents or against your friends over Wi-Fi. Your opponents will bet, bluff, and have secret tells, and there are 10 different locations that you can advance to by winning. The app is designed for iOS 12, is 1.5GB in size, and is compatible with the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.
It's kind of strange to see Apple update Texas Hold'em after more than a decade of not touching it, but hey, we're not going to complain about the game getting updated with high-res graphics and support for Apple's latest devices. Texas Hold'em is free-to-play and works online and offline, so if you're looking for a new iOS game to play, it could be worth a shot.
