Along with all of its new hardware features, like a triple rear camera setup and improved screen, the OnePlus 7 Pro also comes with several software features that are new to OnePlus devices. The good news for owners of previous OnePlus phones is that many of those software features will be released for OnePlus's other recent devices.
OnePlus has confirmed that it's planning to bring many of the OnePlus 7 Pro's OxygenOS features to the OnePlus 6 and 6T as well as the OnePlus 5 and 5T. These include Fnatic Mode for improved gaming, Screen Recorder, and Zen Mode, which will lock all of your phone's features except incoming calls, emergency calls, and the camera for 20 minutes.
Also coming to the OnePlus 6, 6T, 5, and 5T is Quick Reply in Landscape, which lets you use a floating keyboard to reply to incoming messages without leaving the app you're in, and a DC Dimming feature that'll reduce screen flickers at low brightness. OnePlus is bringing RAM Boost to older phones, too, which is a feature that'll learn how you use your phone and predict the apps that you want to launch and speed up performance.
Finally, OnePlus has confirmed that it will update the OnePlus 5 and 5T to Android Q. They join the OnePlus 6, 6T, 7, and 7 Pro as the OnePlus phones that'll get Android Q updates.
When a newer model of your phone is released, it can be kind of frustrating to see it launch with new features that your phone doesn't have, especially if you can't or don't want to upgrade to the new model. It's nice to see OnePlus showing love to owners of its previous phones by bringing them software features from the OnePlus 7 Pro, which will help to breathe new life into their older device and making their life easier.
