It hasn't been too long since Google launched their newest smartphones. The Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL aren't meant to be the newest of flagships. These are less expensive options, with a few tweaks to the hardware formula to help justify that smaller price tag.
The camera is not one of those elements that was weakened in the process.
In fact, it's safe to say that, much like the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL (which launched late last year), the camera is actually the primary selling point for the smartphones. Sure, there is plenty else to like, but it's the camera that's meant to draw in and keep people coming back.
Win them over with the camera in the Pixel 3a and maybe, just maybe, they come back for the Pixel 4 -- or at the very least for whatever replaces the Pixel 3a next year. Either way, you have the specs to win them over, and the actual results to keep them.
And there is absolutely no denying that the camera in the Pixel 3a lineup is a stellar feature. I've had the same opinion about cameras in (most) smartphones for quite some time: you will probably be perfectly happy with whichever option you go with. Yes, some of them --like the Pixel 3a-- stand out, but as long as you're happy with the hardware you have, that's perfectly okay.
But that doesn't mean you can't go and look for an upgrade over what you have now. After all, the camera in the Pixel 2 XL is great, too. But if you saw even better results from the Pixel 3 XL, switching to that camera is definitely an option!
Which is just one of the reasons why the Pixel 3a is so exciting. That price tag along with that camera. Picking up a Pixel 3a might not be as tough a decision as, say, a Galaxy S10 thanks to that price tag. But while it's admittedly tough to ignore the price, I just want to focus on the camera.
