Samsung teased earlier this month that it would soon reach a decision on the Galaxy Fold's launch. Fast-forward to the end of May and we're still without a launch date, though, and so one retailer is canceling all pre-orders for the foldable device.
Best Buy has decided to cancel all pre-orders of the Samsung Galaxy Fold (via The Verge). In a post on its official forums, the company explains that Samsung has not given a new release date for the Galaxy Fold, and so Best Buy is canceling pre-orders in order to protect its customers.
"However, with breakthrough designs and technology come many hurdles and the possibility to face a plethora of unforeseen hiccups. These hurdles have led Samsung to postpone the release of the Galaxy Fold, and Samsung has not provided a new release date," Best Buy explains. "Because we put our customers first and want to ensure they are taken care of in the best possible manner, Best Buy has decided to cancel all current pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy Fold."
Samsung delayed the fold one month ago after several review units suffered from broken displays just days after they were given out. Samsung has said that it's working to minimize the gap between the protective layer and bezel of the main screen and to strengthen the durability of the exposed areas of the hinge.
There's been no indication from Samsung that the Galaxy Fold's launch is imminent. The company did notify pre-order customers that if they didn't confirm their interest in the Galaxy Fold by May 31st, their pre-orders would be canceled. Now we're just one week away from that date and there's still no word on when the Fold might launch.
