With Android Q Beta 3, Google opened the beta test to several non-Pixel smartphones, including the OnePlus 6T. Now we can add a couple more devices to the list.
OnePlus today released an Android Q beta for the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7. The company cautions that this is an early build and that you should only flash the ROM if you have experience in software development or with flashing custom ROMs.
To install the Android Q beta on your OnePlus 7 Pro or OnePlus 7, you'll need at least a 30 percent charge on your battery and a minimum of 3GB of available storage. If you meet those requirements, you can download the Android Q beta ROM, copy it to your phone storage, and install the package on your device. Complete instructions can be found in OnePlus's forums.
OnePlus does note that there are some known issues with this Android Q beta. They include Ambient Display not working, system stability issues, an inability to send SMS messages when VoLTE is on, and navigation gestures not working. OnePlus also says that some apps may not function as expected when running the beta.
OnePlus has also provided a stable, official version of Android for users to revert to if they want to roll back from the Android Q beta.
While there are some issues with this Android Q beta, it's great to see the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7 get this beta release right after their release. Some folks love to tinker with there phones, and now those people who picked up a OnePlus 7 series phone can load Android Q on it and try Google's impending update right now.
