We've already seen some Bluetooth headphones with Google Assistant come to market, but now Google and Qualcomm are making it easier for headphone makers to build Assistant into their products.
Google and Qualcomm have teamed up to great the Qualcomm Smart Headset Development Kit, which will give headphone makers all the parts needed to make wireless headphones with Assistant support built-in. The kit includes Qualcomm's QCC5100 series Bluetooth audio chip and supports Google Fast Pair to make pairing Bluetooth headphones with your phone easier.
To help headphone makers get the ball rolling, Google and Qualcomm have also made the Qualcomm Smart Headset Reference design, which you can see at the top of this post. These earbuds include a button you can push to activate Google Assistant as well as noise cancellation capabilities and extended battery life.
Having the Google Assistant built into your headphones makes it easy to call up the digital assistant without having to pull your phone out of your pocket, so it's a nifty feature for Bluetooth headphones to have. There have been a few Google Assistant-equipped Bluetooth headphones that've come to market so far, but hopefully this Qualcomm Smart Headset Development Kit will help to bring more models to market at a variety of price points.
