Coolpad is a company that may be known best for its mobile hardware, but this week it's launching a new app.
Coolpad FamilyLabs is an all-inclusive family app that helps you to keep tabs on family members and manage what content they have access to on their devices. There's location tracking and geo-fencing that'll let you do things like define safety zones and key locations and set alarms and reminders to help your loved ones do things like take medication or do chores.
There are several ways for parents to manage what content their child has access to as well. This includes restricting access to apps and limiting social media use, blocking potentially harmful websites, and setting daily usage limits and quiet hours. FamilyLabs will also let parents set an approved list of contacts that their child can communicate with via calls and texts.
To make it easier to manage your family, Coolpad will let you use FamilyLabs across Android, iOS, and the web.
Coolpad has kicked off an Indiegogo campaign for FamilyLabs. Interested consumers can get discounted early bird pricing that starts at $99. For that price you'll get a Coolpad Model M smartphone with a 6-inch display with the FamilyLabs Beta app preinstalled as well as a Snapdragon 625 processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a 3380mAh battery, and Android 7.1 Nougat. Also included is three months of Mint Mobile wireless service.
Another early bird package includes the Coolpad Model M phone with FamilyLabs, three months of Mint Mobile service, and a Coolpad Dyno smartwatch for kids, all for a price of $198. The third early bird bundle offers two Model M smartphones, each with three months of Mint Mobile service, for $199.
