Most tablets range somewhere between 7 and 13 inches, which helps to ensure that you're getting a sizable screen that's still portable. Every once in a while we see a much larger tablet come to market, though, and that's precisely what we're getting with a new Archos model.
The Archos Play Tab features a massive 21.5-inch full HD screen that positions as a great device for playing digital board games. Being a tablet allows you to play many different games with a single board, says Archos, and it automates rules and number crunching. Archos also claims that playing games on the Play Tab is affordable since mobile apps are cheaper than physical board games.
Archos has also made the Play Tab splash and shock resistant so that it can stand up to drink spills that could occur when a bunch of people are gathered around and playing a game.
Inside the Archos Play Tab is an octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of built-in storage. It runs Android 9 Pie out of the box, and the whole package is powered by a 5000mAh battery.
Archos says the Play Tab will launch in Europe in time for Back to School 2019 at a price of €249 EUR ($281 USD).
With its 21.5-inch screen, the Archos Play Tab isn't likely to be a device that you carry around to coffee shops, the park, and so on for mobile entertainment. That big screen could be useful for playing games at home, though, and it could also be nice for watching videos around the house if you're not big into games.
What do you think of the Archos Play Tab? Would you use a tablet with a 21.5-inch screen?
