Google Fi recently launched support for more Android phones and iPhones, and now the provider is rolling out a special deal to entice folks to bring those devices onto Fi.
For a limited time, you can get a free month of service when your bring your own phone and activate it on Google Fi. Your phone must be purchased from a site other than Google Fi's, and you'll need to activate it before 11:59 pm PT on March 24th. New Google Fi customers must port their current personal phone number to Google Fi during signup, and the number being transferred must be currently active and have been active with the previous carrier since at least December 8th, 2018.
To qualify for the service credit, your phone must be activated on full service and not a data-only SIM. Your phone must remain active for 30 consecutive days. The credit will cover a single customer's unlimited talk and text, data usage, and taxes and fees for one month.
You can see the phones that are compatible with Google Fi right here.
It's worth noting that when you bring your own phone onto Google Fi, you may not have all of the same features as Google's Design for Fi phones. For example, you won't have the network switching functionality that'll let you hop between T-Mobile, Sprint, and U.S. Cellular's networks. You do get to keep your own phone, though. So if you've got a phone you're happy with and you've been thinking about giving Google Fi a try, this promo may be worth considering.
Whoever said BYOP is the new BYOB was totally right—it’s all about Bring Your Own Phone now.
