It looks like Apple’s FaceTime bug is not the only thing that has hit devices today.
A new Google Assistant bug was discovered to have affected several Android users over the weekend. Users complained the issue on Google’s official support webpages and on a number of Reddit threads. Apparently, the issue affected users who relied heavily on Google Assistant to send them reminder notifications on important meetings and schedules.
The issue seemed to only affect notifications. When it comes to creating a new reminder, users were able to type one out or create via voice successfully. The only time the bug starts affecting users is when the notification is supposed to remind the user about the reminder. And for anyone who heavily relies on Google Assistant to get them through the day, this can be very risky.
The bug doesn’t seem to affect every Google Assistant user. Android Police shared that the issue is affecting devices running Google app version 9.0.6. If you are among those affected by the bug, a solution is to roll back to 9.0.5 so you can have your notifications delivered when you need them to.
In other news, Google may be rolling out a face authentication system on its Google app. The feature will complement Voice Match.
Although there’s no official word whether or not the feature will roll out to Assistant, lines of code for Face Match were uncovered in the latest Google App beta. It would be cool if Google decides to make this feature available to Google Assistant when it becomes available.
