OnePlus and McLaren have teamed up, and the result is the most high-end phone OnePlus has ever made.
The OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition offers a few special features over the standard OnePlus 6T. Perhaps the most notable is the bump to 10GB of RAM, up from 8GB in the top-end version of the regular OnePlus. The OP6T McLaren Edition also boasts Warp Charge 30 fast charging, which is a bit faster than the OnePlus 6T's Fast Charging and can get you 50 percent of your battery in 20 minutes.
There are some special software features of this device, too. OnePlus has included a special Live Wallpaper for its OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition, as well as a McLaren-branded boot-up animation and a special screen unlock animation.
The phone itself features a carbon fiber pattern on its backside and an accent of McLaren's well-known Papaya Orange color at the bottom of the rear. McLaren branding is present on the back of the phone as well, and there's a special orange USB-C cable in the box as well as a McLaren-branded wall charger.
The rest of the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition specs are similar to the standard OnePlus 6T. There's a Snapdragon 845 processor inside its shell along with 256GB of built-in storage and a 3700mAh battery. It's got a 6.41-inch 2340x1080 Optic AMOLED display and a 16MP camera on its face, and around back there's a dual camera setup that includes a 16MP main camera with OIS and EIS as well as a 20MP secondary camera.
The OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition will go on sale on December 13 at 7:00 am PT/10:00 am ET/9:00 am GMT. Pricing will be set at $699/£649/€699. To compare, the standard OnePlus 6T starts at $549 for 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage and tops out at $629 for 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
OnePlus and McLaren's special edition phone looks pretty sharp. The carbon fiber pattern and Papaya Orange on the back add a unique look while not being too ostentatious, and while I wouldn't have minded much more orange, I'm sure most folks would prefer this more subdued look. While it is pricier than the standard OnePlus 6T, you're getting extra RAM, speedier fast charging, and a limited edition phone for that extra cost, so the added $70 over the regular OnePlus 6T doesn't feel over the top if you've been considering an OP6T.
