Google Fit update adds home screen widgets, breathing exercises on your watch, and more

Lots of folks like to use the new year to make a commitment to working out, and with 2019 around the corner, some people may be starting to consider a new exercise regimen. Now Google has announced a new Google Fit update that can help you achieve your goals.

The new Google Fit offers widgets to help you see your progress at a glance. Just place a widget on your home screen and you'll quickly be able to see your Heart Points, Move Minutes, and other daily stats.

Google Fit will also now show you your last workout on its home screen, too. And when you're manually logging a workout in your journal, you'll have an option to adjust the activity intensity and get a more accurate amount of Heart Points for it. Finally, Google says that on Wear OS smartwatches, Google Fit can now guide you through a breathing exercise to help you relax.

These Google Fit updates are rolling out this week, so keep an eye out for 'em.
