In the weeks since the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL launched, we've seen the devices suffer from a few bugs, including some photos not being saved, some units with buzzing speakers, and some Pixel 3 XLs sprouting multiple notches. Now another bug has appeared.
Several Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL owners are reporting that their SMS text messages disappeared from the stock Android Messages app. It's unclear what's causing the problem, but some have suggested something with the November security update may be to blame.
Google responded to the issue today, saying that it "recently discovered a bug affecting SMS/MMS on a small number of Pixel 3s" and that it plans on deploying a fix soon.
This is a pretty serious issue, as some people may have important information stored in their text messages. And while Google says that a fix for the bug is coming, we don't know exactly when that patch will begin rolling out, so you Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL owners may want to ensure your messages are backed up and perhaps try a different communication method for a bit.
