Barnes & Noble has released a few Nook tablets in the past, but it's been a couple of years since the bookseller has unleashed a new Android tablet into the world. That's changing today.
The Nook Tablet 10.1-inch is now official, and you can pre-order one from Barnes & Noble for $129.99. B&N says that its new tablet will launch on November 14.
The display on the new Nook tablet is larger than the ones we've seen from Barnes & Noble tablets in the past, measuring in at 10.1 inches and offering a resolution of 1920x1200. There's 32GB of built-in storage, and B&N has included a microSD card slot so that you can add up to 256GB of additional storage. A pair of 2MP cameras are on the device, too — one front, one back — as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack and a battery that's rated to last up to 8.5 hours of use.
On the software side, the Nook Tablet 10.1-inch is an Android device with access to the Play Store and its millions of Android apps. B&N will also sell you books, magazines, and newspapers on its new tablet, and there are also kid-focused features like books for children and parental controls.
Also of note are the pogo-pins that'll let you connect a portable keyboard or charging dock, which are sold separately.
It's kind of strange to see a new Barnes & Noble tablet being launched because it's been a couple of years since B&N last released a tablet, but this looks like a decent option if you're in the market for a low-cost Android tablet. It's got a 10-inch screen and is cheaper than Amazon's 10-inch tablet, plus the B&N tablet includes Play Store access.
