As the notch trend has been spreading to more smartphones, we've seen different manufacturers tackle the notch in different ways. Now a new leak shows that ASUS will be the next smartphone maker to implement a notch in a new way.
New images and video claim to show the ASUS ZenFone 6 with an off-center notch. Rather than sitting in the middle of the top of the display like every other notch we've seen to date, the ASUS ZenFone 6's notch is close to the right edge of the top of the screen. We can also see that it's a pretty small notch, offering just enough room for a front-facing camera.
This leak also shows that the ASUS ZenFone 6 has a dual rear camera setup with what looks like it could be a fingerprint reader below it. We can see that the bottom of the phone has both a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB-C port.
Today's report mentions that the ASUS ZenFone 6 being shown in the leaked images and video is a prototype and that the final product will be revealed at MWC 2019, which is scheduled for February 25-28. It's possible that the final design could differ from what we're seeing here, but it'd be interesting to see ASUS launch the ZenFone 6 with this notch placement since it's so different from most other devices. It would be nice if the device could make use of that empty space in the status bar that'd normally be occupied by a notch.
What do you think of this ASUS ZenFone 6's notch?
