A couple of days after Google revealed several new hardware products, it's announced some updates for Google Assistant.

Google says that the features it showed off with Google Home Hub earlier this week are coming to other smart display devices like the Lenovo Smart Display amd JBL Link View. These include multi-room audio, Live Albums that'll show the best images from your Google Photos account while the device is in Ambient Mode, and a Home View that'll let you see and control all your smart home devices. And if you've got a Nest Hello Doorbell, your smart display will show who's at the door when someone rings and let you send a quick response.

For smartphones, you'll see be able to get a visual snapshot of your day, including event recommendations, recent notes and lists, and important reminders. This view can be accessed by tapping the icon in the upper right corner of the Google Assistant screen. Also of note is that in November, the Pixel 1 and Pixel 2 devices will get the "Screen call" ability that'll have the Google Assistant determine if an incoming call is spam.

For Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL owners, a new Google Assistant setting will let you ask questions from the lockscreen. This means you'll be able to ask things like "Hey Google, what's next on my calendar?" without unlocking your phone.

Google is bringing new Digital Wellbeing features to Pixel 3 and other phones as well. These include asking the Google Assistant to do things like "Set wind down for 10pm" or asking something like "How much time have I spent on my phone today?".

Finally, owners of a smart display or smart speaker with Google Assistant will soon see a "Filters" setting in their Google Home app that'll let you manage your kids' activities as well as a "Downtime" feature that'll let you block your child's device between certain hours.
