Alcatel's got a new Android phone launching today, and it's only available from MetroPCS.
The Alcatel 7 is now available from MetroPCS. Pricing is set at $179.99, but MetroPCS is offering it for free after port-in credit with an unlimited LTE plan, while customers who add a new line or have a qualifying upgrade can get it for $129.00.
The new Android 8.1 Oreo phone includes a 6-inch 2160x1080 screen and 8MP front-facing camera with face unlock. Around back there's a dual rear camera setup that includes 12MP and 2MP sensors along with features like a portrait mode to add a blurry background to your photos, a social mode, and a re-focus feature.
Powering the Alcatel 7 is a 2.5GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6763T processor paired with 2GB of RAM and a 4000mAh battery. Included is 32GB of built-in storage along with a microSD card slot for adding more storage, VoLTE support, and LTE bands 2, 4, 5, 12, 66, and 71.
Alcatel has also included a few special software features into its new phone. The CloserTV app gathers online streaming services and cable TV into one place, while the fingerprint reader will let you assign your favorite apps to each of your fingerprints to more quickly launch them.
