Samsung introduced a new DeX Pad alongside the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, and soon you'll finally be able to buy it in the U.S.
The new Samsung DeX Pad will arrive in the U.S. on May 13 at a price of $99.99. The device is available for pre-order today. Also starting today is a new deal that offers a free DeX Pad to customers who buy a Galaxy S9 or S9+ by April 30.
The DeX Pad allows you to connect your Galaxy S9 or S9+ to a monitor, mouse, and keyboard and use it like a desktop computer. Phone calls, messages, and notifcations will appear on your taskbar, and you can use apps, play games, watch movies, and more on your monitor. Samsung's DeX Pad also supports virtual desktops and apps like Citrix, VMWare, and Amazon, as wekk as enterprise features for IT admins.
There are two USB-A 2.0 ports on the DeX Pad as well as an HDMI port and a USB-C charging port. The device supports display outputs of 1600x900, 1920x1080, and 2560x1440, and supported phones include the Galaxy S8 and S8+, Galaxy S9 and S9+, Galaxy S8 Active, and Galaxy Note 8. Also of note is that you can use your phone as a trackpad if you don't have a mouse.
Samsung's DeX Pad looks like a nice solution for people that like to get work done on the go. You can carry your documents, photos, apps, and more everywhere you go and get a full desktop experience with a large, high-res monitor. And if you haven't yet picked up a Galaxy S9, doing so in April might be a good time to do it since you can get a free DeX Pad to go with your new phone.
