One week after Google officially revealed Android 8.0 Oreo, the update is starting to roll out to the public.
Verizon says that it’s starting to update its Google Pixel and Pixel XL to Android 8.0. The update bumps both phones to build number OPR6.170623.012 and includes Android Oreo features like picture-in-picture, notification dots, autofill, and more.
This update will likely go out over the air in stages over the coming days, so if you don’t have it on your Pixel or Pixel XL yet, don’t fret. If you’d like to manually check for the update, you can do so by going into Settings > System > System updates > Check for update.
Google previously said that Oreo updates for the Pixel, Pixel XL and select Nexus devices would begin rolling out “soon”, and it looks that time is now for Pixel phones on Verizon. We haven’t yet seen any other devices receive a taste of Oreo yet, but now that Verizon’s pushing these updates, more Oreo updates can’t be too far off.
