There are several digital assistants on the market, and today it was announced that two of them are partnering up.
Amazon and Microsoft are partnering to enable Alexa and Cortana to interact with one another. This means that you’ll be able to use Alexa to access Cortana productivity features like book a meeting or access your work calendars. You’ll be able to access these features by saying “Alexa, open Cortana” on an Alexa-enabled device.
Meanwhile, you’ll be able to access Alexa features with Cortana on Windows 10 PCs, iPhones, and Android devices by saying “Hey Cortana, open Alexa”. You’ll then be able to do things like control smart home devices, shop on Amazon, or access other Alexa skills.
Alexa and Cortana integration will roll out later this year.
This partnership could be exciting for folks that already rely on Alexa or Cortana but don’t have easy access to the other assistant. With this integration, those folks are gaining access to an additional set of skills. For example, Cortana uses can use Alexa to control the lights in their home or order a Domino’s pizza.
Do you use either Alexa or Cortana?
