Today is the start of Apple’s WWDC 2017 conference, and one of the major focuses of the keynote was watchOS 4.
Apple today detailed the changes that are coming to the Apple Watch with watchOS 4. That includes several new watch faces, like a Siri-powered face that’ll intelligently show information throughout your day. For example, if you’ve got a meeting coming up, it’ll show a card with that info. You can scroll through the info cards with the Apple Watch’s crown, and there’s also a quick Siri shortcut button on the watch face.
Also coming with watchOS 4 are kaleidoscope and Toy Story-themed watches.
Apple has also prepped an updated Workout experience in watchOS 4. This includes updated workout cards and two-way data exchange with gym equipment. With the latter feature, you can pair your Apple Watch with gym equipment over NFC to enable two-way data sharing between the devices, which will ensure that stats like your calories burned and heart rate will be accurate. Apple Watch-enabled gym equipment will begin rolling out this fall.
Rounding out the new watchOS 4 features announced today is a new dock that’ll allow you to vertically scroll through recent apps, an updated Music app that’ll automatically pull in new Apple Music playlists, and a handful of new dev tools.
Apple will begin offering a developer preview of watchOS 4 today, with a full release coming to all Apple Watches this fall.
