Facebook regularly updates its Messenger apps with improvements and new features, and today another update has started rolling out.
Facebook today announced a new Live Location feature for Messenger. As its name suggests, the new feature will let you share your location with friends in Messenger. You can select who you share your location with, and the person or people that you share your location with will be able to see it for 60 minutes. You can also manually stop sharing your location at any time.
This feature will also display an estimate of how long it’ll take for you to get to other people’s locations.
If you’d prefer to share a static location on a map instead of your live location, you can still do that, too.
Google Maps recently gained a similar location-sharing feature, and it makes sense for Messenger to have a version of that feature, too. Lots of folks use Messenger for planning parties, get-togethers, and more, and this location sharing feature can make it easy for the people involved in that planning to show everyone else in the event where they’re at.
