ZTE teased last month that it plans to launch its first Android Wear smartwatch in 2017, and today details of that device have leaked out.
The ZTE Quartz has been revealed in a new leaked image from VentureBeat. Details on the Android Wear device are still light, but ZTE USA CEO Lixin Cheng did previously say that his company’s first Android Wear smartwatch will have its own cellular connection and will function even when it’s not paired to a phone.
There’s no word on exactly when the ZTE Quartz will launch, but Cheng confirmed that at least one US carrier has already signed on to sell the watch.
There haven’t been a ton of new Android Wear smartwatches hitting the market lately, but that’s about to change. Android Wear 2.0 is expected to launch tomorrow, February 8, and so this is a good time for companies to release new hardware to go along with Google’s new software.
