After launching mobile live streaming to a handful of creators back in June 2016, YouTube today announced that it’s expanding the feature to more people.
Starting today, YouTube mobile live streaming will be available to all creators with 10,000 or more subscribers. That should greatly expand the availability, giving many more creators the chance to try mobile live streaming and giving more viewers the chance to tune in to a mobile live stream.
YouTube says that the rest of us will be able to get mobile live streaming “soon.”
Launching a YouTube mobile live stream is meant to be as simple as possible. To do it, you’ll just need to launch the YouTube app, tap the camera-shaped Capture button, then tap the Go Live button. You’ll then be able to snap a photo for a thumbnail and then go live.
Making mobile live streaming simple is important to get creators to use YouTube’s feature instead of the other live streaming options, and so it’s smart of YouTube to make its version just a few taps away from your phone’s home screen.
YouTube today also detailed its new Super Chat feature. With it, commenters can pay to have their chat message stand out with a brightly colored highlight and being stacked to the top of the chat window for up to five hours.
