A new Google Maps update is rolling out that aims to help you get real-time info more quickly.
The new Google Maps for Android adds a set of three tabs at the bottom of your phone’s screen. These tabs are for Places, Driving, and Transit, and you can access them by swiping up.
Tapping on the Places tab will give you a quick look at the nearby places to eat and drink, and from there you can view images or short descriptions. You can also search for places like gas stations, grocery stores, and more.
The Driving tab will give you real-time ETAs to your home and work, so long as you’ve got those locations saved, as well as a report on the traffic conditions around you. There’s also an option to turn on Driving Mode, which will give you real-time traffic info as you drive.
Finally, the Transit tab will give you recommendations for which bus or train you should take if you’ve got your home and work info saved. You can also see when the next bus or train is coming and when you should arrive at your destination. If you’re going somewhere that’s not home or work, you can swipe to find nearby transit stations with real-time schedules.
This Google Maps for Android update is now rolling out, so keep an eye out for it!
