A couple of weeks after launching the ZTE ZMax Pro, T-Mobile and ZTE are teaming up to launch another new product. This one’s not a smartphone or tablet, though.
The T-Mobile SyncUp Drive is a new device that suck down T-Mo’s 4G LTE signal and spit it out as Wi-Fi for your car. The SyncUp Drive plugs into your car’s OBD-II port, which is included with most cars made since 1996.
In addition to working as a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to five devices, the T-Mobile SyncUp Drive can monitor your car’s performance. That includes analyzing your driving behavior, which can do things like help you save cash on fuel, and tracking miles for business. The SyncUp Drive can also monitor where your car is, set up speed alerts, and more, which could come in handy for parents keeping tabs on their kid’s driving.
Finally, the SyncUp Drive can help you diagnose problems with your car. Many mechanics use a vehicle’s OBD-II port to figure out any issues, and now you can do the same with the SyncUp Drive.
The SyncUp Drive will launch at T-Mobile on November 18. It’ll cost $149.99, but for a limited time, T-Mo will give you one for free via bill credits. You just need to agree to a two-year finance agreement and sign up for a 2GB or higher mobile internet plan.
