The LG V20 was one of the first devices to run Android 7.0, and now it’s time for another LG phone to get its helping of Nougat.
The LG G5 will begin receiving its Android 7.0 update on November 8. The rollout will begin in South Korea and will follow in the Americas, Asia, and other markets in the coming weeks.
With the update to Android 7.0, the LG G5 will gain “a range of new features designed to enhance the user experience and deliver more speed and convenience” to users. This includes Nougat’s In Apps feature, which will surface content inside of your apps when you’re performing a search. Also included is an updated multi-window feature that’ll let you switch between apps with a double-tap or run two apps side-by-side.
LG has worked to provide fast updates to its flagships in the past, like with the LG G4’s Android 6.0 update that began rolling out less than two weeks after Google’s release to Nexuses. Now LG is pushing Android 7.0 to the G5 before most other non-Nexus and non-Pixel devices get the update. LG G5 owners outside of South Korea will have to wait a bit longer for their Nougat update, but at least they know that their turn is coming soon.
