Many Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge owners are probably hungry for a Nougat upgrade, but it’s unclear when Samsung will push Android 7.0 to those devices. However, some lucky S7 and S7 edge owners will get to test Nougat this week.
Samsung will kick off an Android 7.0 Nougat beta for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge in both the US and UK. The catch is that, at least in the US, the beta will only be available to specific models. Specifically, the Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon versions of the S7 and S7 edge will get access to the beta. Sorry, AT&T customers.
The beta will begin on November 9 and run until mid-December. If you’ve got a qualifying device, you can apply for the beta by downloading the Galaxy Beta Program app from Galaxy Apps on Wednesday. You’ll then fill out an application, and if you’re accepted to the program, you’ll receive an update.
Details about Samsung’s Android 7.0 update are light, but the company does say that testers will get “an opportunity to experience new features and the latest UX based on Android 7.0 Nougat.” Because this is a beta, testers may also encounter some bugs and instability, but that could be worth it to get Android 7.0 this week.
