Use Google Chrome to browse the web on your phone? If so, some new features are coming your way.
Google has announced a few new features for Chrome on Android. First up, Data Saver is being improved. The feature currently helps to save data by compressing images and text that you load, and now it’ll work on videos, too. Google says that Data Saver will help you save up to 67 percent of your data when watching MP4 videos in Chrome.
Google is improving downloads in Chrome as well. The new download feature will let you save a web page, music, video, or picture by tapping the download button. You can then visit the new Downloads section in Chrome to view your saved content.
Google says that Chrome’s improved downloads are now available in Chrome Beta and will roll out to all Chrome users “soon.”
Finally, Chrome will now offer up new content that it thinks you’ll like when you open a new tab. The new “Articles for you” section will recommend content that Chrome thinks that you’ll like, such as news about your favorite sports team or your most-visited sites. Google says that this feature will learn more about you and offer better recommendations the more that you use it.
