Motorola has released a handful of new phones in recent months, like the Moto Z and Moto G4, and the good news for anyone that’s picked one up is that those devices will soon be updated to Android 7.0.
Motorola says that it plans to begin updating Moto Z and Moto G4 devices in the fourth quarter of 2016. Specifically, Moto told Droid-Life that we can “expect to see Android N on the Moto Z family and Moto G4 beginning in Q4.”
When asked about older devices like the Moto X Pure Edition and previous Moto G models, Moto declined to give an update timeframe. The company did say that they’ll share more info later and that they “know upgrades are about getting it right and making sure the phone performance remains the best it can be.”
The fourth quarter starts on October 1, so it’s possible that the Moto Z4 and Moto G4 updates will begin pretty soon. Of course, Q4 is three months long, so owners of those phones could also be waiting a bit for their taste of Nougat. At least Moto Z and Moto G4 owners have an idea of when their Android 7.0 updates will arrive, though.
