Hot on the heels of a report that leaked the upcoming Google Wifi router, new details on other devices that’ll debut on October 4 have leaked.
The Google Home assistant device will cost $129 when it’s announced on October 4, says Android Police. To compare, Amazon’s Echo is $179.99. The Echo is Google Home’s biggest competitor, with both devices letting you get answers to questions and access apps using your voice.
While still unofficial, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Google price Home lower than Amazon’s Echo. The Amazon Echo has been on the market for a while now and has gotten quite a bit of praise and several new features in the process. If Google wants Home to succeed, it’s got to take the fight to the Echo, and giving the Home a price that’s $50 less than the Echo is one way to do that.
Meanwhile, Google’s upcoming Chromecast Ultra is expected to be priced at $69. Google’s current Chromecast costs $35, so the Chromecast Ultra would be just about twice the price of the standard Chromecast.
The marquee feature of the Chromecast Ultra will reportedly be 4K support. The good news for folks that don’t have a 4K television, though, is that Google is expected to continue offering the $35 Chromecast alongside this Chromecast Ultra.
The Google Home and Chromecast Ultra are expected to debut on October 4, along with Google’s new Pixel phones and a Google Wifi router. Google has confirmed an announcement for October 4, but hasn’t said what will be revealed on that date.
