Google recently teased that it’s prepping the first maintenance update for Android 7.0, and now some new info on both it and the updates that’ll follow have leaked.
The upcoming Nougat maintenance update will be Android 7.1, says prominent leaker Evan Blass. The quarterly maintenance update that’ll follow will be Android 7.1.1, Blass says, followed by Android 7.1.2.
Details on what exactly will be in these updates are still unclear, but Google did say that the first update that it’s working on will offer “continued refinements and polish.” This update is expected to be released as a developer preview this fall.
While these leaked version numbers don’t give a ton of insight into what’ll actually be in these next few Nougat maintenance updates, it is interesting to hear that the next update will bump us to version 7.1 while the follow two will be x.x.1 releases. Now we just have to wait for them to roll out so we can dig in and see exactly what’s inside each update.
