Xiaomi’s latest Android phone is here, and it continues Xiaomi’s tradition of offering phones with solid specs and low price tags.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 runs Android on a 5.5-inch 1920x1080 display with 2.5D glass. Above that display is a 5-megapixel camera for all of your selfie needs, and around back there’s a 13-megapixel camera with phase detection autofocus and an f/2.0 aperture. Below that 13-megapixel camera lives a fingerprint reader.
Inside of the Redmi Note 4’s metal unibody design, there’s an deca-core Helio X20 processor, 2/3GB of RAM, 16/64GB of storage, and a 4,100mAh battery that’s powering the whole package. The Redmi Note 4 also offers a dual SIM tray that can accept either two SIM cards or single SIM card and a microSD card.
Xiaomi will begin sales of the Redmi Note 4 in China on Aug. 26. Pricing will be set at ￥899 ($135 USD) for the 2GB/16GB model and ￥1199 ($180 USD) for the 3GB/64GB flavor.
The Redmi Note 4 looks like a solid addition to Xiaomi’s Redmi lineup. While it’s not the most high-end phone around, it’s got a solid spec list that includes a large, high-res display and a premium metal unibody design. Plus, it’s got an affordable price tag to help make it even more attractive. Unfortunately, the Redmi Note 4 is like other Xiaomi devices in that it’s unlikely to be released outside of China and select other Asian countries, so most of us probably won’t get to handle Xiaomi’s newest product.
