Yesterday I was going through some boxes – I don’t even remember what I was originally looking for, because eventually I found a Moto RAZR. A pink one, no less. I didn’t remember keeping it, nor that I had shoved it in a box, either. So of course I started digging deeper into the box, trying to discover what else I could find in there.
I didn’t really find anything else interesting, unfortunately, but I couldn’t help but go back to my desk, with the RAZR in front of me, and think back to when I might have been using this particular phone. I’m pretty confident that it wasn’t ever mine, because the only RAZR I remember using was the silver model, but it was still cool to think back at how awesome this phone was way back then.
There’s something about the simplicity of a flip phone that’s still attractive. Even if I know I’d never give up a smartphone to go back.
I don’t have a lot of phones lying around anymore, actually. After I got over my bit of nostalgia with the RAZR, I started looking around, going through other boxes, drawers, and other spots to try and find what other devices I have in secluded storage.
Then I realized that while I used to be a collector, holding onto the phones that made an impact on me at some point in time or another (like HTC’s original Hero), that’s no longer the case. After several different moves those devices didn’t make the cut, and I haven’t kept up with it at all.
Now I typically sell an old phone, or trade it in, when I’m upgrading. Out with the old, in with the new.
Finding that RAZR was pretty awesome, though, so I couldn’t help but start wondering about the collectors out there. I want to hear from you out there. The ones that love to hold onto the phones they’ve loved (and/or hated!), and tell me which one is the oldest you own. Which one is your favorite? Which phone in your collection brings back the best memories? Let me know!
