After debuting in China in July, the Honor 8 today made its way to the U.S.
Huawei’s Honor brand today showed off the Honor 8 at an event in San Francisco. The new Honor phone will be available for pre-order in the U.S. from August 17 through September 3. Pricing will start at $399.99 for the 32GB model and $449.99 for the 64GB version, and anyone that pre-orders will get a $50 gift card.
The Honor 8 will be sold on Honor's U.S. website as well as at Amazon, B&H Photo Video, Best Buy, and Newegg. It’ll be available in white, black, and blue color options, but the blue version will be a Best Buy exclusive for the first 60 days of availability.
As a refresher, the Honor 8’s highlight feature is its dual rear camera setup. It’s got two 12-megapixel cameras on its backside, one of which is a color sensor while the other is a monochrome sensor. Honor says that this dual sensor setup helps the Honor 8 to capture more light when taking photos.
Other features of the Honor 8 include a 5.2-inch 1920x1080 display with 2.5D glass, 8-megapixel front-facing camera, 4GB of RAM, 32/64GB of storage, and a microSD slot for adding more storage. Also included is an octa-core Kirin 950 processor, fingerprint reader, a 3,000mAh battery, and a USB Type-C port for charging that battery.
The Honor 8 runs Android 6.0 beneath Honor’s custom EMUI 4.1 user interface. Included are several special features, like the ability to take a screenshot by tapping the Smart Key on the back of the phone or double-tapping it to activate the flashlight.
The unlocked Honor 8 includes support for AT&T and T-Mobile, with LTE bands 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/17/20. Also included is support for Voice over LTE (VoLTE) on T-Mobile.
We don’t see a ton of Huawei’s smartphones make their way to the U.S., including Huawei’s flagship P9, so it’s nice to see that the Honor 8 and its dual rear camera setup will be offered here. Now that we know that the Honor 8 is coming stateside, are you thinking about picking one up?
