The Axon 7 offers a lot of bang for your buck, packing specs like a 5.5-inch Quad HD display and Snapdragon 820 for $399.99 unlocked. And if you’re at all into tinkering with Android, ZTE is making the Axon 7 even more attractive.
ZTE is now offering the option to unlock the bootloaders on the U.S. versions of the Axon 7 and Axon Pro. To unlock the bootloader on your Axon 7 or Axon Pro, you’ll need to request the unlock from ZTE, who is setting up a dedicated Developers Lounge in its community forums for bootloader unlock requests and sharing tips with your fellow bootloader unlockers.
One detail worth noting is that if you do unlock the bootloader on your Axon 7 or Axon Pro, you will void the device warranty that comes with your Axon.
With an unlocked bootloader, Axon 7 and Axon Pro owners can do things like load custom ROMs onto their devices. Having an unlocked bootloader gives you more freedom to do with your device what you’d like, but it’s also a technical process that you don’t want to undergo unless you already know what things like bootloaders and custom ROMs are or you’re willing to take the time to learn.
ZTE says that its customers have been asking for an option to unlock the bootloaders on the Axon 7 and Axon Pro, so it’s good to see ZTE giving users what they want. You can read ZTE’s full announcement at the link below.
