Last month, some leaked photos claimed to show off the Xperia F8331, an unannounced Sony flagship. Now some renders of the same device have surfaced, giving us a better look at the upcoming Android phone.
Renders shared by @OnLeaks show an Xperia-branded phone with a design similar to the F8331 that leaked in July. The device is referred to as the Sony Xperia XR, but that name has yet to be confirmed.
As for the device itself, it’s expected to offer curved sides, which would differ from many of Sony’s previous Xperia flagships that had flat sides. Also included with the F8331 is a dual LED flash for the rear camera and a USB Type-C port, which is would be a first on a Sony phone.
While this Xperia XR/F833X (F8331 and F8332) device doesn’t look like a radical departure from past Sony phones, it does appear to have some small tweaks that could make for a better overall device. For example, the curved sides could make it easier to hold, and the USB Type-C port would make it easier for users to charge their phone since the port is reversible.
There’s no word on when this Xperia XR/F833X will be announced. IFA is a major international mobile show that's happening in early September, so it's possible that we could see the Xperia XR there. If past Sony flagships are any indication, though, we’ll get another peek or two at the device before its official debut.
