If a new report is to be believed, the next couple of weeks will be big for Windows 10 Mobile fans.
The Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update will reportedly begin rolling out to “open-market” devices like the unlocked Lumia phones, Acer phones, and more on August 9. One week later on August 16, it’s expected that W10M’s Anniversary Update will start hitting U.S. carrier-branded Windows 10 Mobile phones.
Microsoft began pushing the Windows 10 Anniversary Update to PCs last week, but it hasn’t announced a release date for the mobile update. It did say that the W10M Anniversary Update would launch “in the coming weeks,” so we do know that the update is close.
As for what’s included in the Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update, it’s expected that there will be some new features and user experience improvements. For example, on phones without a physical camera key, Microsoft will reportedly replace the back button on the lock screen with a camera button. Also said to be included are media controls on the lock screen, an improved Settings app, an updated Skype app, and more.
