There have been quite a few leaks related to Google’s 2016 Nexus phones, and today we can add another to the list.
According to a newly leaked image, Google’s 2016 Nexus phones will offer a new feature that’ll let you pull down your device’s notification shade by swiping down on its fingerprint sensor. The GIF shared by Android Police explains the Settings tip that shows exactly how the gesture works, and we can also see a toggle that’ll presumably let you turn the feature off if you want to.
This could end up being a pretty nifty feature if it does indeed come to the 2016 Nexus phones. While both devices are expected to have smaller displays than last year’s Nexus 5X and 6P (5.0-inch and 5.5-inch vs 5.2-inch and 5.7-inch), they could still require some thumb stretching if you want to pull down your notification shade with one hand. This new feature would solve that problem, letting you check your notifications with your index finger with just a hair more effort than it takes to unlock the phone.
It’s also worth noting that, yes, this leaked GIF also appears to show the Electric Blue version of the Nexus phones that are rumored to be in the works. This model will reportedly have a white front. Also, the colorful home button is glitched in this GIF, because those blue and green circles are typically closer to the white home button.
