Normally if you want to enroll your smartphone in your carrier’s insurance program, you’ve got to do so within a month or so of buying your device. Starting today, though, all Verizon customers are getting another chance.
Verizon is now holding open enrollment for its Total Mobile Protection program, meaning that you can add insurance to your device no matter when you purchased or upgraded. This open enrollment will last until September 15.
Total Mobile Protection is Verizon’s top-end insurance offering for your device. It includes coverage for lost and stolen devices, damages, and post-warranty defects, and it also offers support from Verizon Tech Coaches and the Verizon Support and Protection app that aims to protect you from adware, viruses, and phishing.
Pricing for Total Mobile Protection is set at $11 per month for each smartphone and $9 per month for each basic phone or tablet.
Some folks may decide to pass on device insurance when they first buy their phone or tablet, but then change their mind later on when it’s too late. If that’s you, now’s the time to sign up.
