When LG announced the G5 earlier this year, they also introduced several “Friends” accessories. Those included the LG 360 Cam that can capture 360-degree photos, the portable LG 360 VR headset, and the LG Tone Platinum Bluetooth headphones. Now the LG G5 has made another Friend.
The LG Action Cam LTE is, well, pretty much what it sounds like. The portable camera features a 12.3-megapixel camera with a 150-degree wide angle lens, and it can record Ultra HD 4K video at 30 frames per second, 1080p HD video at 30 or 60 frames per second, and 720p HD video at 30, 60, or 120 frames per second. It also offers 720p 30fps live streaming capabilities.
LG’s Action Cam LTE features an IP67 rating to help it resist dust and sand, and it can be submerged in up to 1 meter (3.28 feet) of water for up to 30 minutes. Inside of that action-ready body is 2GB of RAM, 4GB of storage (OS only), a microSD slot, and a Snapdragon 650 processor. And as its name implies, the LG Action Cam LTE also offers 4G LTE (and 3G) connectivity so that you can stream video when you’re away from Wi-Fi.
The LG Action Cam LTE is compatible with smartphones running Android 5.0 and up as well as iOS 9 and higher. It’s now available in South Korea at a price of ₩399,300 ($350 USD) and will launch in “other key markets” in the coming weeks.
With the Action Cam LTE, LG appears to have built its own version of the GoPro. The device looks nice enough, packing a mount so that you can attach it to your helmet, bike, or whatever else, and the built-in cellular connectivity will make it easy for you to stream your activities wherever you’re at.
