The Meizu Pro 6 debuted earlier this year with a combination of high-end specs, a premium metal body, and a starting price of ¥2499 ($373 USD), which is pretty affordable given what you get for the money. If you’re looking for something that’s even more affordable, though, Meizu is happy to oblige.
The MX6 is the latest all-metal smartphone from Chinese manufacturer Meizu. It’s packing a 5.5-inch 1920x1080 display, slightly larger than the Pro 6’s 5.2-inch 1080p screen, as well as a 12-megapixel rear camera with phase detection autofocus and an f/2.0 aperture. Around front there’s a 5-megapixel shooter with an f/2.0 aperture.
Packed inside of the Meizu MZ6’s metal frame is a deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 3,060mAh battery with fast charging support. There’s also a USB Type-C port for charging that battery, dual SIM slots, 32GB of storage, and a fingerprint reader for added security. On the software side, the MX6 runs Android 6.0 beneath Meizu’s custom Flyme 5.2 user interface.
The Meizu MX6 will launch in China on July 30 at a price of $299. Meizu will also offer a Loop Jacket case (shown below) that offers a cutout for viewing alerts and more without opening the case. The Loop Jacket will launch alongside the MX6 on July 30 for $15.
With a deca-core processor, 4GB of RAM, a fingerprint reader, USB Type-C, and more, the Meizu MX6 appears to be just as well-specced as many Android flagships currently on the market. Its price tag is quite a bit lower than many of those devices, too, and while we don’t yet know how the MX6 performs in the real world, it looks like a very interesting option for folks in the market for an affordable handset. Unfortunately for those of us in the U.S., it’s not likely that we’ll ever have the option of picking on up, as Meizu devices don’t typically make their way stateside.
