OnePlus is primarily known for its flagship smartphones, like the OnePlus 3 that just hit virtual store shelves. The company has released a few accessories to date, though, like headphones, cases, and battery packs. Now it’s been revealed that another accessory was once in the works, too.
OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei recently posted sketches from 2015 that show the OnePlus smartwatch that never came to be. Most of the drawings show a watch with a round design, and while there aren’t many details in the sketches, we can see that Pei was imagining a device that would fit into a frame on a band, presumably for easy band swapping.
While we don’t know what the final version of this OnePlus smartwatch might’ve looked like had it actually been released, it could’ve been a competitive addition to the smartwatch market. OnePlus has made a name for itself by offering high-end smartphones at affordable prices, and so it’d be interesting to see how the company would apply its “flagship killer” philosophy to a wearable.
