UPDATE: And now Google's Android Nougat unveiling video has confirmed that the update will be Android 7.0.
Finally, the mystery has come to an end: Android N’s official name has been revealed.
Google today said that Android N will now be known as Android Nougat. We’ve been calling it Android N for months now, and Google recently took suggestions from the public about what Android N’s official name will be. Now the Nougat name has been revealed, complete with a new statue at Google’s headquarters.
With each major new Android version, Google has revealed a dessert nickname to go with it. For example, Android 2.3 was Gingerbread and Android 5.0 was Lollipop. Now Nougat has joined the Android dessert family. And while this official nickname has little effect on the software itself, it does mean that we’ll likely get a new, nougat-related Easter egg, so that’s something to look forward to.
Did you correctly predict Android N’s official nickname? Or did you put your money on a different name?
