After introducing the pricey, high-end Kindle Oasis in April, Amazon today took the wraps off of another new Kindle that’s at the opposite end of the price spectrum.
The new Kindle is a refreshed version of Amazon’s base e-reader, and it’s now available for pre-order ahead of its July 7 launch. Pricing is set at $79.99, just like its predecessor.
While this new Kindle may look similar to the previous model, Amazon says that it has an updated design that’s more rounded, making it easier to hold. The body is also thinner and lighter than the previous model. Amazon has packed in twice the memory, though, and has also added Bluetooth so that visually impaired users can take advantage of the VoiceView screen reader to read what’s on the Kindle’s screen.
The other notable feature of this new Kindle is that it comes in white. While it’s not the first Kindle to be sold with a white color option, it’s been a few years since we’ve seen a white Kindle.
