The Alcatel Idol 3 was one of the best-received phones of 2015, offering solid specs, an unlocked device, and an affordable price tag. Now it’s got Marshmallow, too.
Alcatel has announced that it’s now pushing Android 6.0 Marshmallow to the unlocked version of the Idol 3. Several Reddit users have already received the update, which weighs in at 1260.2MB and bumps the phone up to Android 6.0.1. Also included in the update are the June 2016 Android security patches.
If you’ve got an unlocked Idol 3, keep an eye out for this over the air update to hit your phone in the coming days. You can also check for it manually by going into the About phone section of your Settings app.
The Idol 3 was Alcatel’s flagship for 2015, so it’s no surprise to see the phone getting Android 6.0.1. That doesn’t make today’s rollout any less exciting, though, with Idol 3 owners getting new features like Google Now on Tap. If you’ve got an unlocked Idol 3, be sure to let us know when Marshmallow hits your phone!
