UPDATE: Samsung responded to this news, telling Engadget, "We disagree with Fast Company's interpretation. Samsung has not made any announcement regarding Android Wear and we have not changed our commitment to any of our platforms."
There are a lot of manufacturers that’ve made Android Wear smartwatches to date, including Asus, Huawei, Motorola, Samsung, and LG. But one of them may never make another.
Samsung has told Fast Company that it currently has no plans to create new Android Wear smartwatches. The company added that Tizen, which it uses on most all of its wearables devices, is more battery-efficient than Android Wear.
To date, Samsung has launched a single Android Wear device, the Gear Live, which was released in June 2014. Considering that that’s the only Android Wear watch that Samsung has released and that we’ve never gotten word of any other, it’s not really a surprise to hear that Samsung has no plans to create any new Android Wear watches. The good news is that while Samsung may not be planning any new Android Wear devices, plenty of other manufacturers are churning out new Android Wear hardware.
Have you ever used the Samsung Gear Live?
