One month after launching its new Live Cases for Nexus phones, Google has introduced a limited edition Live Case, and it’s a bit different than those Skrillex Live Cases that Google offered one year ago.
The Jeff Koons Live Case is a limited edition case for the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. There are three designs available — Diana (above), Mailbox (middle), and Bust (bottom) — and they cost $40 apiece. Because they’re limited edition, these Live Cases are individually numbered and will only be available while supplies last.
Because these are Live Cases, they come with an interactive live wallpaper selected by Jeff Koons. When you tap the wallpaper, you’ll see 28 moments from the ballet Swan Lake. Google also says that every now and then, it’ll send you exclusive digital art pieces made by Jeff Koon. And just like other Live Cases, these Jeff Koons cases have a shortcut button on the case that you can program to launch your camera, open an app, or do whatever else.
Google says that Jeff Koons is “one of the world’s greatest living artists.” While these cases obviously won’t appeal to everyone, the blue sphere that’s surrounding the camera/fingerprint cutouts on all three cases does look pretty neat. And hey, if these Jeff Koons cases aren’t your style, you can always make your own Live Case with a photo or map.
