The DROID Maxx 2 hasn’t been in the news much since its debut last year, but today the DROID Turbo 2’s sibling is in the spotlight thanks to a major software update.
Verizon is now updating the DROID Maxx 2 to Android 6.0, according to VZW’s support site. The update includes many of the Marshmallow features that you’d expect, like Google Now on Tap, Doze mode battery optimizations, improved app permissions, and adoptable storage.
The update should be going out over the air right now, so keep an eye on your DROID Maxx 2’s status bar. If you don’t feel like waiting for the update to come to you, you can try pulling it manually by going into your Settings app and visit the System Updates section.
The DROID Maxx 2 debuted at the same time as the DROID Turbo 2 last year, and because it’s more of a mid-range device than the Turbo 2, it’s often been overshadowed by its beefier sibling. That’s why it’s good to see Motorola and Verizon come through with an Android 6.0 update for the Maxx 2, bringing it up to the latest version of Android, just like the Turbo 2.
